Jo Ann Hargrove

Jo Ann Hargrove, age 76, of Sugar Land, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. She was born on August 28, 1947, in Houston, Texas to Pete and Carmeline Cangelosi. Jo Ann is preceded in death by her, parents Carmeline and Pete, brother Pete Cangelosi Jr., and husband Howard Ray Hargrove Jr. She and her beloved Howard were together for 50 years. She is survived by sisters Mary Harrison and Marie Valentine and their families, son, Vincent Hargrove; daughter, Sherry Honoré and her husband Brook Honoré; grandchildren Erica Hancock and her husband Jacob Hancock; Natalie Honoré; and Brook Honoré, Jr.; and two great-grandchildren Hallie Hancock and soon-to-be Baby Hancock. Jo Ann was a history teacher for 19 years at Sugar Land Junior High, Mount Carmel Catholic School, St. Theresa's Catholic School, and Clements High School. A devoted Catholic, for 37 years a parishioner at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land. For more than 40 years she was a member of the Holy Family Court of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, serving multiple terms in officer's positions. A member of the Holy Family Golden Friendship Group, the Charity Guild of St. Joseph, and the Fort Bend Historical Society. Jo Ann was a donor to countless Catholic and secular charities. Her grandchildren were her greatest source of joy, and she lit up like a firefly whenever she heard their voices. A relentless collector of antiques and glassware, venturing out to craft shows at every opportunity. A devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Jo Ann was known by everyone for her generosity, strong faith, kind heart, sweet and thoughtful gestures, loyalty and support for friends and family, and ceaseless expressions of love. The family wishes to thank all of the friends and neighbors that did so much to help Jo Ann since Howard passed away in 2022. She was truly blessed to have such amazing people in her life.
