Six Lady Horns qualify for regionals

KATY — Many George Ranch Lady Longhorn track stars are heading to the Region III tournament this week after the team finished second overall in Friday’s Area meet at Katy Paetow High School.

First-year head coach Alicia Cruse has been blessed with an excellent squad, taking over from former coach Alicia Dutch.

George Ranch hope to qualify more than one athlete for the state competition after missing out in 2023.

“I am extremely proud of the athletes and the effort they put in; I could not have asked for more,” Cruse said. “The ladies showed up in all events and did what they set out to do: compete. Because of the latter, their competitive drive and will to succeed, they were the runners-up at the area meet, which is no small feat. This meet, as well as the district, was the culmination of a season’s worth of commitment and dedication to the sport they love, and I look forward to watching what they do at the regional meet.”
