Irene Mary Gassmann Bohac

Irene Mary Gassmann Bohac, 95, of Damon, Texas passed away on April 19, 2024. She was born on February 2, 1929, in Lavaca County, Texas to Frank J. Gassmann and Pauline A. (Berger) Gassmann.

Irene was a long-time member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Damon, Texas. She was involved in various organizations throughout Brazoria and Fort Bend Counties some of which included: Sts. Cyril & Methodius Altar Society, K.J.Z.T. St. Theresa Society #85 Damon, American Legion Auxillary Unit #350 Needville, Damon PTA, Needville and West Columbia Senior Citizens and the Fort Bend German Society.

Irene worked for Damon ISD for 20 years as a cook, the children, and teachers there loved the way she made everything taste good. She was also a Watkins Distributer for over 50 years and Avon for over 20 years. Her customers were her friends and she always enjoyed visiting.

In addition to her parents Frank and Pauline Gassmann, Irene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edwin E. Bohac and her brothers, Erwin F. Gassmann and Benjamin Gassmann.

Survivors include her four children, Andrew (Karen) Bohac, David (Karen) Bohac, Kara (Mike) McCormick, and Jeffry Bohac; grandchildren, Aron (Carrie) Bohac, Anissa (TJ) Miller, Denna Hardy, Jillian Peavler, Robert (Amanda) Bohac, Chrissy Fedro, Addie Fedro, Nathan McCormick, Kelsey (Arturo) Chavez, Coty (Jadi) Bohac, Dustin (Gillian) Bohac and Shane Bohac; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Irene is also survived by a sister-in-law, Cynthia Gassmann Barton, along with extended family and a host of friends.

The family will receive guests on Monday, April 29, 2024, starting at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 603 Parrot Street in Damon, Texas. Fr. Marty Pham to officiate the services. Burial to follow at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Cemetery in Damon and a lunch reception in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, memorials may be made to the Damon Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 118, Damon, Texas 77430, or to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, P.O. Box 309, Damon, Texas 77430.
