HERPS show draws large crowd to Fairgrounds
The HERPS reptile show drew hundreds of snake, lizard and spider lovers to the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds this past weekend. Vendors also sold bunnies, pigs, and other exotic animals along with pythons, tarantulas and other non-venomous snakes. They also sold toys, food, terrariums, wood habitats, heating equipment and other items that make reptiles feel at home.
A scaly sweetheart
Calie Forbes shows off a blue tongue skink during the HERPS reptile show on Saturday at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. Calie says skinks are a great house pet because they’re “cool, calm and collected.” This skink, a female, is about 2-1/2 years old and enjoys a meal of fresh fruit and non-grain dog or cat food found at most pet stores. “She’s a real sweetheart,” she said.
Need a reptile habitat or perch?
Not all vendors at the HERP show sold reptiles. Many sold the items reptiles need to live, such as terrariums, wood and rock habitats, heating lights and heating pads, water and food dishes, branches and tree limbs for perches, and much more.
