| Both Lamar National Little League 9-year-old All-star teams rolled into the championship rounds of their respective Area tournaments over the weekend.
The 13-year-old All-star tournament gets started Monday night, with the Lamar National All-stars getting a first-round bye and opening play Tuesday night at 8:30 at George Park.
Lamar American 22, WSL 3
SUGAR LAND - The Lamar American All-stars roared into the championship round with an impressive victory over the host West Sugar Land All-stars.
The Lamar American attack, which struck out just four times throughout the tournament, scored twice in the first and put the game away with a nine-run second.
Brandon Pruitt was 3-for-4 and scored four runs, both Daniel Boehm and Ryan Rickett delivered two doubles and Kyle Boudreaux walked four times and scored four runs.
Hunter Goodwin, Boehm and Jack Johnson combined to shut down the West Sugar Land attack.
Tyler Johnson had two base hits for West Sugar Land.
In Sunday's loser's bracket finals, Sugar Land rallied to eliminate the West Sugar Land All-stars in seven innings, 17-12.
Going 2-for-4 were Jacob Koonce, Dylan Zaffuta and Charles Robinson.
Joesph Wart pitched 4 2/3 innings, striking out four and allowed just two runs.
Lamar National 17, Danbury 6
DANBURY - Lamar National's All-stars scored 13 runs in the third to race past Danbury and into the title round of the Area 4 tournament.
The 15-hit Lamar National attack was led by Blake Palmquist with three hits. Delivering two hits apiece were Karsten Fagan, Ryan Harris, Josh Lapierre and Kyle Parker.
Solo hits were added by Brad Armstrong, Corbin Geisendorff, Bo Hoeffken and Dylan Rock.
Fagan, Geisendorff and Palmquist pitched for Lamar National.
Sweeny 9, Needville 4
SWEENY - Sweeny's pitching proved decisive in the win over Needville in the winner's bracket of the Area 2 tournament.
Needville fought back from an early deficit before falling short and moving to the loser's bracket to face Freeport.
Recording hits for Needville were Blake Winkler, Logan Archer and Myles Hackstedt.
Winkler and Zachary Twardowski pitched for Needville.
