  • Simonton changes animal control regs

    Monday, April 21, 2008 3:45 PM CDT

A new animal control ordinance is now in effect for Simonton, replacing the previous law that had been on the books there for the past 16 years.

City secretary Joan Robertson said there was a low turnout during last week's public hearing on the revised ordinance, which was adopted on April 15.

“There were few major changes,” Robertson said, but residents still need to review the ordinance's regulations.

    The new ordinance provides:

€ Rabies vaccination requirements and the immunization period

€ Actions against dogs running loose in the city limits and private property

€ Definitions, regulations and penalties regarding “dangerous” and “wild” animals

    € Quarantine of animals

    € Releasing / dumping animals

€ Penalties for violating any of the rules and regulations

The ordinance can be accessed in full by visiting simontontexas.org.
