  • Spring Fling car show revs up this weekend

    Southwest Street Machines of Houston will present the 30th annual ’ÄúSpring Fling’Äù car show from 8 to 5 p.m. Saturday; and from 8 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Rosenberg ’Äì rain or shine.

    Events Chairman Anna Richardson reports 120 vehicles have pre-registered. Entry fee per vehicle is $22 for those registered by Friday, and $25 for those registering Saturday or Sunday. The deadline to register is noon Sunday.

    Spectator admission is free. There will be jars available for those who would like to donate to the Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels program.

    Registrants may participate in a variety of activities/games for trophies and plaques. At 2 p.m. Sunday, there will be an awards ceremony for the judging of vehicles, including Chairman’Äôs Choice, the City of Rosenberg trophy and Best of Show. A grand prize drawing for a 5.0 Ford engine will also be held.

    In addition to the car show, there will be a nondenominational church service with praise singing at 10 a.m. Sunday.

    A variety of food will be available both Saturday and Sunday at the Knights of Columbus concession stand.

    So, whether you are a car buff, restorer or just want to drool, there will be something for everyone ’Äî from a 1915 Ford all the way up to an ’Äô03 Dodge.

    Registered car clubs showing this weekend are: Lone Star Rod Association, National Street Rod, Texas Joy Ride, Houston Classic Chevy, Brazoria County Car Club, Custom Cruiser, SAAC, JEOH, GoodGuys, P.I.P., Undecided, Acrophobia, Crossroads Cruisers, Rat Holes, Vertically Challenge, Hilltoppers, Gulf Coast Olds Club, Classic Rides Auto Restoration, Bud Cruisers, Houston Area Chevy Club, Bay City Falcons, Gulf Coast Cruisers, Blast From The Past, High Country Mustang Club, All Out Off Road, Houston Fire Department, Kuttin’Äô Edge Customs, Dirty Leg Incorporated and National Street Machines Club.
