  • Non-compliant sex offenders face charges

    Monday, February 18, 2008 4:48 PM CST

Nearly 40 people will be subject to felony prosecution after they were found to be non-compliant with the sex offender registry requirements during a recent verification, said Terriann Carlson, spokeswoman for the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

During the week of Jan. 28, members of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office conducted a special operation - Sex Offender Verification - and as a result, 168 registered sex offenders were interviewed with 130 deemed in compliance. The remaining 38 individuals found to be out of compliance will be subjected to felony prosecution.

Sheriff Milton Wright said these convicted sexual predators will not be allowed to willfully violate the terms of their respective sentences. In fact, they can expect continual verifications and subsequent criminal charges for any violations.
