  • Man thrown from truck, hit by cars

    Monday, February 18, 2008 4:48 PM CST

A man was in critical condition in Memorial Hermann Hospital Friday night after being thrown from a moving truck Friday afternoon, and Sugar Land Police are seeking information about the truck and its other occupants.

Doug Adolph, Sugar Land Police Department spokesman, said Saturday morning that witnesses saw a dark-colored, blue or black dually pickup truck moving southbound on the U.S. 59 feeder road near University Boulevard at about 12:45 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses told police they saw an altercation inside the truck involving several Hispanic males. It appeared they were beating a man with “either a crowbar or baseball bat,” witnesses told police.

The victim then was thrown from the truck and subsequently hit by two cars. Adolph said the victim, whose identity was not released, received several broken bones and other injuries.

The investigation continues, and Adolph said anyone with any information about the case can contact Sugar Land PD at 281-275-2525.
