| The Brazos ISD Bond Review Committee will recommend a $6.9 million bond for high school renovations to the Brazos ISD School Board, the committee decided in a meeting Thursday.
Jack Ellis, Brazos ISD superintendent, said the committee arrived at the $6.9 million number in hopes that will be one that the community will accept.
“The board will take that recommendation and act on it Tuesday night,” Ellis said, referring to the board's regular monthly meeting on Feb. 19.
If the board votes on calling a bond election, it will be held in May.
The district wants to renovate the high school in order to bring its science classroom facilities up to new state curriculum standards in addition to doing other work around the campus. The girls locker room facility would be gutted and redone, and the boys locker room area would be added. With the bond, the school also would be able to improve lighting, safety and floors on the campus. Rest rooms would be refurbished, and the school district's administration offices would be relocated into a redone classroom building on the campus.
