| An entrance ramp that for years has taken Greatwood residents northbound onto U.S. 59 will be closed permanently Saturday, according to Texas Department of Transportation officials.
Currently, the northbound stretch of U.S. 59 feeder between Grand Parkway and the Brazos River has two entrance ramps. One has been located near the Grand Parkway for many years. The other ramp, closer to the Brazos River, was constructed by TxDOT as part of the ongoing U.S. 59 widening project .
Jim Hunt, Fort Bend County area engineer for TxDOT, said the ramp closer to Grand Parkway will be closed Saturday, with the Brazos River ramp serving as its permanent replacement.
In recent weeks, Hunt said those travelling from Grand Parkway to U.S. 59 northbound have been using the original entrance, while those exiting the Greatwood subdivision have been using the new Brazos River entrance. Now, both sets of traffic will be using the Brazos River entrance, he said.
Hunt said the older entrance ramp is being closed to make way for a new exit ramp that will take motorists from U.S. 59 northbound to the feeder road in front of Greatwood.DLsmlooking at using a map with this
