| A Fort Bend County man found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old neighbor was sentenced to 35 years in prison Tuesday.
A jury Monday found Nasrolla Alizadeh, 57, guilty of two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child for a series of 2003 incidents involving a friend of his daughter's. She was 11 at the time and 14 when she testified in Alizadeh's trial last week.
Alizadeh, who could have been sentenced to life in prison, received sentences of 35 years and 29 years for the sexual assault charges, and an 11-year sentence for the indecency charge.
Alizadeh is divorced and had been seeing his daughter on weekends. The victim frequently visited the Alizadeh household, and came forward to her mother on Thanksgiving Day 2003 .
Both families lived in the Towne West subdivision in north Fort Bend County. The sheriff's office and the Child Advocates Center investigated the case.
Prosecutor Suzy Morton did not ask for a specific sentence in closing arguments but said she wanted him to receive a prison sentence.
Defense attorney Logene Foster argued his client would be in frequent contact with his relatives and neighbors if given probation, and that he would be able to follow conditions if it were imposed.
Judge Cliff Vacek presided over the case in the 400th District Court.
