| As the Fort Bend County Fair ends a successful year, there are additional opportunities for residents in the county to have fun and also benefit others.
Prepare to have a look at some hot rods this weekend. The fifth annual Wallis Fine Rides Autofest, an open car show with all cars welcome, starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, rain or shine, at the American Legion Hall on Legion Road in Wallis.
Awards will be given at 3 p.m. The event features lots of food, live music, entertainment, arts and crafts, door prizes and the chance to see some unique cars. For more information, visit www.wallistexas.org.
The Brazos River Pickers are staging a free bluegrass and old-time music concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Brazos Bend State Park in the amphitheatre. And while you're at the park, be sure and stroll over to the George Observatory for a look at the stars.
Forget cooking this weekend. The Rosenberg Knights of Columbus is holding its monthly fish fry from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the KC Hall on Kaycee Drive in Rosenberg. All-you-can-eat plates are $7 adults and $5 children. To-go plates of hot fried catfish, side dishes and iced tea are available.
