The American Legion Third Division Convention will be held April 30 through May 1 at the Fort Bend County American Legion Hall in Rosenberg.

The convention will be hosted by the Fort Bend County Post and Unit 271 and Commander Bobby Rohan. J.G. (Lupe) Garza is currently serving as Third Division Commander, and is a member of the John T. and George E. Fields Post 567 in Richmond.

Serving as Third Division President is Donna Miller from LaFeria. Lorenzo Calvillo from Mercedes serves as Third Division Detachment Vice Commander for the Sons of the American Legion Squadron.

The Third Division is known as the "Mighty Third" because it is the largest of the four divisions in Texas. It is composed of six districts, each with a commander and officers, and 152 posts with each post having its own commander and officers. It covers 57 counties and has a membership of over 26,000.

The delegates will be welcomed by Garza, Rosenberg Mayor Joe Gurecky, Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert, State Rep. Dora Olivo, D-Rosenberg, and Fort Bend County Pct. 1 Commissioner Tom Stavinoha.

"We are looking forward to welcoming all the delegates and member," said Garza. "The convention committee composed of Bobby and Betty Rohan, and Frances Garza have been busy planning a great convention for us."
