In addition, there will be a "Last Chance" qualifier at South Padre Island Golf Club in Laguna Vista on Nov. 7. The "Last Chance" qualifier is open to any eligible golfer missing the entry deadline or failing to qualify at one of the other qualifying events. There will be a minimum of four spots in the championship field available at the "Last Chance" qualifier.

The deadline for entering the qualifying events is Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004. The qualifying entry fee is $175 - successful qualifiers will pay an additional $175 for the championship. The entry fee for all exempt golfers is $350.

    *****Fore!*****

The Greatwood Senior Men's Golf Organization defeated the Cinco Ranch Senior Men in matches held last week at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch. The Greatwood team won with a total of 1,040 strokes to 1,050 over Cinco Ranch. The Medalist for Greatwood was Mike Makulski with a round of 65.

This was the first time in several years that this event has been played, and a re-match is scheduled to played at Greatwood Golf Club this fall.

Larry Baehre of the Greatwood Seniors said Cinco Ranch was favored because of the strength of their team, but the Greatwood players were up to the task. The mid-to-high handicappers from Greatwood played well, enabling Greatwood to win the match by 10 shots.

If you are interested in joining the Greatwood Senior Men's Golf Organization, men 55 and over are invited to join them at 8 a.m. on Wednesday mornings for a shotgun start. For more information, call the Greatwood Pro Shop at 281-343-9999 or Larry Baehre at 281-343-5249.
